Japanese Language Teaching Department Student Board

The Japanese Language Teaching Department recognizes that institutional quality and the continuous development of its academic culture require active participation and cooperation from all stakeholders, especially its students. Our department’s undergraduate program currently holds the unique distinction of being the sole accredited program among Asian Languages programs in Türkiye. In accordance with quality assurance protocols and our commitment to student-centric governance, a Student Board has been actively operating for the past five years to ensure students have a central and active role in departmental decision-making processes. This Board serves as the primary conduit for conveying concerns pertinent to the student body to the department, where solutions are collaboratively sought, thus contributing significantly to the institutionalization of our academic culture. The Board is composed of both undergraduate and postgraduate students, and as of 2025, postgraduate students have been integrated and currently hold the positions of Board Chair and Vice-Chair. Through this integration, graduate students gain the valuable opportunity to share their learning experiences as "Sempai" with undergraduate students, while simultaneously disseminating crucial information regarding their Master’s research processes and the NF-JLEP program itself. Furthermore, the Board is tasked with increasing awareness and visibility of both the postgraduate program and the NF-JLEP fellowship among the student body. In summary, the Student Board is an indispensable body that upholds our department's commitment to quality assurance, mentorship, and a robust academic environment by integrating the student voice directly into the heart of departmental operations and by contributing actively to raising awareness for academic integrity.
